I have recently started shooting stuff that has been interesting me for quite some time now…sports and Little kids…Im still trying to get the hang of both but I dont think Im doing too bad!  I gotta give props out to my good friend Steve Morse, owner of Onsight Photography, for allowing me to assist him with several UB events….Football games…being on the field…WOW what a rush!

The Savvy Gourmet

Posted by shelleyk on August 17, 2009

Friday evening my husband played jazz guitar fir a wine tasting/Tapas event at The Savvy Gourmet cafe in Amherst on Main street.  Hosting the event were owners Mike and Marie Battaglia and the wine expert was  Buffalo’s own Trish Lynett “The Wine Goddess”.

Being a wine lover myself I jumped at the opportunity to experience 2 of my favorite loves at the same time…my husband playing his guitar and WINE!

I met some wonderful people Friday evening and I had such a relaxing time as well.  The Chef was outstanding and chose the perfect nibbles to pair with each of the wines we were learning about.  Trish was fantastic in dishing out information on each of the wines as well and WHY each wine would taste the way it did with each food pairing.

We were able to order a meal from the kitchen as well to eat an individual pizza with basil, pesto, tomatoes and fresh mozzerella cheese.  It was SO good!  There were also grapes and red raspberries to snack on as well.  My husband Bill decided to get a chicken dish.  I cant remember what all was on it but WOW was it good!

In any case I would HIGHLY recommend coming to The Savvy Gourmet Cafe to get a luncheon, gourmet coffee or sit with a friend and enjoy a glass of wine, make sure you chat it up with the owners, they are wonderful people and such a great asset to the food industry!

Back to nature….

Posted by shelleyk on July 7, 2009

Well I was getting bored with myself again and I needed to shoot something different.  I finally got a new camera..YAY ME!  I got the Canon EOS 50D and with it came a sweet kit lens…the 18-200mm EF-S IS, this is definitely a workhorse lens, it covers SO much from wide angle to gorgeous macro!  So I thought lets give macro a go for a bit and see what I come up with…I am LOVING the results!

On another note, my older brother has recently gotten the photography bug again!  Its been about 18 years since he was into photography and obviously it has changed dramatically since then!  Ive been having fun seeing him so excited about the shots that he is coming up with!  Its almost childlike! :)

Looks like some friendly sibling rivalry is  in the near future LOL!!!

Katrina & Jeds wedding!

Posted by shelleyk on June 30, 2009

First of all congratulations Katrina & Jed!  I enjoyed ever miinute of your  happy day and I want to thank you for letting me document it and share it with you!

The wedding took place at Belhust Castle in Geneva, NY right on Lake Seneca in wine country.  The whole setup was perfectly beautiful.  My assistant and I spent the day following the wedding party around and just having an all around wonderful time.  One of the bands that my husband is in, Isis played the music for the reception, so I got to work for the first time ever with my husband in a professional sense.  It was kind of cool!

That evening after the wedding and reception were over my husband Bill and I, stayed in the Castle in one of the rooms over night.  What made it more special was that the next day was out 15 year wedding anniversary!  *I may have some photos of the area someone on a memory card…if so I will share*  ANother post coming about how we spent our anniversary will be coming soon. :)

Anyhow here are some photos of Katrina and Jeds wedding day!

University of Buffalo Oozefest 2009!!

Posted by shelleyk on April 27, 2009

I had the opportunity to shoot Oozefest this year with my friend Steve Morse.  These shots are copyrighted by UB but I put my mark on it to deter anyone from taking them and claiming them.

This was UB’s 25th year doing Oozefest and I gotta say it was a BLAST!  The weather was absolutely gorgeous but a bit on the windy side.  Mud was just flying everywhere and now matter where I turned I got sprayed with it LOL!!  I hope to do this again next year too!

Nothing in particular :)

Posted by shelleyk on April 3, 2009

Well this is a blog right?  So I suppose I should be blogging, right?  Does it always have to contain photos?  Maybe, maybe not.

Anyway a lot has been going on in my life lately and  some of it I’d like to share.

First of all my good friend A.L Haskins, author of The whisper of serpents http://www.alawrencehaskins.com/home.html finally had his first book published.  I received it todya and I can not wait to start reading it!  This book is phenomenal, packed with action, suspense drama, you name it!!  I recommend for you to go buy if on Amazon!  It will soon be available in  some major book stores as well!

Next up is on a more personal level.  Ive been trying really hard to lose weight  for the past 15 years….marriage and kids made me quite lazy as well as having some serious health issues over the years.  The next couple of months will see a dramatic change in my eating and over all physique. I have a personal friend here in town, Tammy Huber, http://www.tammyhuber.com she has been helping me  and keeping me motivated to stay on track to reach my goal.  Tammy is also a lifestyle fitnes coach, you should check out her website, especially if you need to make some changes to your health as well!

Here is a shot I did of Tammy not so long ago…beautiful isnt she!!!

Lately I have been really trying to make more of a name for myself here in Buffalo, with the economy as it is…especially here in WNY…not many people are spending money and we are feeling it.

I have opened up several doors of opportunity to several people and businesses and I hope that soon  my networking and talent will prove to be fruitful!

I will keep you updated on the situation :)  Until then…be seeing you around!
